A Novel Grocery List
16th Jul 2011 in Writing
A while ago, Vinyl Poetry asked me to take part in their Grocery List project. At that point I was beginning to make notes for my second novel, Rust and Stardust, and so here is my list:
What’s the grocery list for your current project?
That’s a wonderful idea. I’m going to make a grocery list for my novella now.
It’s a great idea.I made a list of sounds I would if I could include in a recording of a reading, but they would have to come up unexpectedly:
a struck match
a shovel digging, hitting rock
a squeaking screen door, opening and closing
three kinds of footsteps, bare feet, rubber slippers, leather shoe soles.
a water plant being dragged across a surface of water
the pop of a water plant pod
water lapping a river wall
shell chimes
Dawn, do send me the grocery list for your novella – I’d love to read it.
Jill, this is a beautiful list. I wish I’d thought of a list of sounds, such a great idea. I’ve never heard the pop of a water plant pod, but I’d like to hear it.
This is a great idea – I’m going to give this a try for my next story 🙂
Thanks, Kirsty. Have you ever popped a pod on a piece of kelp?
Thanks Kirsty! Here’s what I’ve got so far:
